After the wedding, Brigid and I did a couple days of sight-seeing while she was still in Germany.
Here we are in front of the Nymphenburg Palace in Munich. It was the main summer palace of the Bavarian rulers.More pictures of the Nymphenburg Palace.
Nesting swan nearby
Behind the palace
No Brigid, these are not chickens.
BMW Welt (world). They had lots of hands-on exhibits and machines. We visited 9pm at night on a Sunday and it was open. I was amazed.
Former site of the Munich Summer Olympics in the 70's. Now they are trying to host the winter Olympics in 2018 I believe.
We walked around the Olympic park and found a concert going on.
And bratwurst
This was taken in a cool subway station.
The famous Munich soccer stadium. It changes color from its white.
Statue in Munich. This is not the first time I found someone riding a fish.
After the evening we spent in Munich, the next day we went to Salzburg, Austria.
Gardens near Mirabell Palace. It will look amazing when these roses bloom.
Again, these are the gardens
I believe this is the University church
This is the cathedral
These are some pictures of pictures of what the cathedral looked like after WWII.
A fountain with the Salzburg fortress in the background
This is the church in the abby where the Sound of Music was filmed
This is the cathedral from above on our way to see the fort.
This is the fort from another angle. As you can see, this was the third day starting with the wedding day that was absolutely gorgeous. We got so lucky.
The scenery was beautiful with the snowy Alps in the background. Down below in the lower right corner is the house where the Sound of Music was filmed.
Again, this is the mansion where the Sound of Music was filmed.
Lake next to the mansion
Fountain next to the cathedral, also where some of the Sound of Music was filmed.
Sacher hotel... where Mozart was born and also home to the famous Sacher chocolate cakes.
